Privacy Policy

Who we are

Our website address is: https://sharongreenstreetart.com. We are a small business operating out of Queensland, Australia, creating original custom art and original art prints. We are committed to protecting your privacy as a customer and an online visitor to our website.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

At this time, our website does not have a feature to create an account, purchase goods or services, or add your own comments or images, directly to our website. We will however collect information automatically through your use of our site through Cookies and Pixels (see below), and we retain information provided to us during correspondence and purchases for our own marketing use, legal and business record-keeping purposes, for correspondence with you relating to your purchases, service enquiries, and delivery of products purchased with us. We will never sell your information to third-party marketing services or share your information for purposes other than those listed in this policy.

Transactions of goods and services are conducted via an external third-party site, ‘Etsy,’ which has it’s own privacy policy, accessible here, and site security. We have opted to sell this way because we’re operating on our own research and in good faith that Etsy uses reliable ecommerce security methods and has an acceptable privacy policy. However, please be aware that we are not in control of this external website, and therefore do not accept any responsibility for their privacy policy or site security; we are not able to guarantee the security of any information you provide to external sites.

Sales in person are conducted using a third-party payment platform, ‘Square.’ Their privacy and information use policy can be found here.

We do not, and will not, sell or deal in Personal Data or any customer information.

Comments

If visitors are able to leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Comments made on posts made about your purchased art commissions through the Sharon Greenstreet Art business social media pages and associated business platforms (such as Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, TikTok, and Etsy reviews) may be used as quotes on our ‘testimonials’ sections. We may share a picture of the artwork with this quote, however we will not share your name in this section other than a single first initial of a first name.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Reference Images

Images you send as reference images for artwork commissions will be reprinted and used in photo imaging software as per the artist’s process in creating your artwork from these references. These images may be retained and used later to exhibit against the finished artwork for marketing and portfolio purposes (both in printed and digital website or social media posts), but your original images will never be used for any other purpose, shared with other parties outside this purpose, or used on their own without the images of the artist’s representation alongside. However, you retain the rights to your original reference photographs (unless they are free commercial-use images), so you may request your original reference images do not get shared or used in marketing materials.

The artist retains all rights to the artwork, so images of the artwork will still be shared via digital and printed methods for marketing and the artist’s portfolio purposes.

Copyright

We believe all artists should be credited for their work and nobody should profit from another artists’ work without their explicit consent. We will not recreate artwork for images you do not have rights to use. We abide by copyright laws and do not condone reproducing someone else’s work, including for ‘fan art’ purposes. We operate on the understanding that you own the rights to commission a reproduction for any reference images you supply us for commissioned artworks. If we know you do not have rights to the reference images, for example, if a commission was requested for a painting of a Disney character and you do not own the licence to reproduce these character images, we will refuse the commission request.

Contact forms

Information entered in my ‘contact us’ page or via direct email will not be used for marketing purposes unless you proceed with purchasing a product or service with us. We then retain your information for the uses described in this policy, and you may be automatically subscribed to our email newsletter (which may include exclusive offers). You may opt out of this subcription at any time by clicking ‘unsubscribe’ in the newsletters.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

If you provide your email address via the ‘contact me’ form, direct email to us, or during the process of purchasing of goods or services with us (including via our third-party seller, Etsy, or payment processing platform, ‘Square’), we may retain and use this information such as your name, address, email address, and history of purchases made with us (excluding payment information) to automatically include you in our email newsletter to update you on latest news, exclusive deals, new products, and service changes. To do this, we may share this information with a third party electronic mail service (such as MailChimp) which also abides by their own privacy terms. You can choose to opt out, or ‘unsubscribe,’ to this email marketing at any time by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ button on our newsletters.

We will update their information here if and when we use a third party email marketing service so you may research their data use policy as well, but we are not yet using an external email marketing service.

We may also share information collected via third-party site optimisation sites such as Google Analytics for the purposes of informing our marketing decisions, optimising our website experience, and improving our products and services for our target market. We do this only after researching these third-party services and deciding in good faith that they are reputable businesses. To access Google’s privacy policy (including Google Analytics, Google Ads, or other partners of Google), you can search the Google website here.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Information retained as mentioned above for marketing purposes, legal and business record-keeping purposes may be retained indefinitely.

What rights you have over your data

You can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments and emails sent to us may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

GDPR

To the extent it applies to our services and business, we aim to meet the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for UK and EU citizens and believe in the principles of fair, transparent, and lawful data collection and use. We will not collect or process any personal information from you that is considered “Sensitive Personal Information” under the GDPR (such as personal information relating to sexual orientation or ethnic origin) unless it is being collected subject to and in accordance with the GDPR.

Please contact us at any time to exercise your rights under the GDPR.

Changes to Privacy Policy

At any time, we may change or update the terms in this privacy policy. We will always ensure we comply with legal requirements for privacy and information use policies, and we will never sell or deal in Personal Data or any customer information. We will ensure the information in this Privacy Policy is kept updated at all times.

For any issues or queries regarding our privacy policy, please do not hesitate to contact us here.
